John 13:34-35 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." Hebrews 10:25 "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." God made us to love. It's what we were created to do! We are told to love our neighbors as ourselves and we are to love God with all of our heart. If we allow it, though, our smartphones can start to take the place of those things. Our heart is no longer filled with a love for God and with a love for people; instead, our heart is filled with a desire to know everything about everyone, to keep up with our social relationships while missing out on our interpersonal relationships, and to fulfill our own desires rather than God's desires. Living this way doesn't lead to happiness or satisfaction, and it never will. Failing to get "likes" or posting to get "likes" only leads to disappointment and/or temporary satisfaction. We're trying to fill our hearts with happiness that nothing of this world can give us. We will never be satisfied this way; we'll always need more "likes", more "friends", more "posts". Technology cannot fill our need to be loved, secure, and happy. As C.S. Lewis says, "God cannot give us peace and happiness apart from Himself because there is no such thing." Self-Reflection:
